Meant To Be
Chapter 3
Brian walked into the loft and headed straight for the bottle of Jim Beam. It
was a little early to start drinking, even for him, but he needed something to
stop the trembling that had been plaguing him since he looked into those blue
eyes. Grabbing the bottle, deciding that a glass wasn’t necessary, he walked
over and sat down on the sofa trying to get his thoughts together. The feelings
he was experiencing were new to him and he wasn’t sure what to do about them. No
one had ever caused the reaction he felt from looking at the blond. He sat there
for a few minutes letting his mind wonder to thoughts of Justin. He could
imagine the boy in his bed, crying out in passion as Brian pushed into his tight
hole. ‘Christ! I need to get a grip. This can’t be happening. Michael said they
had just hooked up. Maybe things were not what they seemed. Maybe he was just a
trick.’ Brian thought to himself.
Taking another swig from the bottle, he decided to call Mikey and find out what
was really going on with them. If the boy was just a trick, there was no reason
why Brian could not hook up with the kid himself. Michael answered on the second
ring.
“Brian, are you okay? You ran out of here so fast.” Michael sounded worried.
“I told you, Mikey. I’m fine. I just forgot something at the loft. So, what’s
the deal with this kid? You blew me off for some trick?” Brian asked as casually
as possible. He didn’t want to sound too interested.
“Well, he’s not exactly a trick. We met last night and seemed to hit it off. We
agreed to get to know each other. If fact, he’s meeting us at Woody’s tonight.
You can get to know him then. He’s a nice kid, even though, he is a bit young. I
really like him.” Michael replied.
‘Shit! So much for him just being a trick’ Brian thought as he tried to come up
with an excuse for not being able to go to Woody’s with them. “That’s great,
Mikey. Listen, I have to get to the office. Our newest client is coming to town
on Monday, and the presentation is all wrong. I might have to work late, so I’m
not sure if I’ll make it tonight. See ya.” Brian felt a sick feeling wash over
him as he realized how serious Mikey was about this kid. “Fuck!” He exclaimed to
the empty loft as he took another swig of beam.
Justin was sitting on Daphne’s bed, waiting for her to get off the phone so he
could tell her all about his latest problem. They had been best friends since
the second grade and didn’t have any secrets between them. When she hung up the
phone, Justin immediately started telling her his story.
“I met this guy last night. His name is Michael, and he’s really nice. We hooked
up and went back to his place and had sex. It was good. We decided to get to
know each other. It wasn’t love at first sight or anything, but I really like
him.” Justin blurted out, walking over to the window and looking out.
“Justin, that’s great. I’m happy for you, but if things went so well, why are
you so upset?” Daphne asked, wondering why her friend looked so sad.
“Oh Daph, it’s what happened this morning. Michael took me to the diner he hangs
out at to meet his friends. Ted and Emmett were there when we walked in and they
seemed really nice, but then his friend Brian walked in and I just about lost
it. He was beautiful, Daph. He’s tall, with perfect brown hair and intense hazel
eyes and a body, God, his body was perfect.” Justin groaned.
“Uh oh. I think I see what the problem is.” Daphne declared.
“What am I going to do? I’m supposed to meet them at a bar tonight, but how can
I hang out with Michael, when I want his best friend? Why is this happening?”
Justin cried.
“Okay Justin, calm down. Let’s think about this. You don’t even know this Brian.
Maybe he’s a complete jerk. Maybe, once you get to know him, you won’t even like
him. Then the problem would be solved.” She answered.
“I don’t know about that. It was like I saw the face of God and his name is
Brian Kinney.” Justin stated.
“Shit! So what do you plan to do? You’ve only known Michael for like twelve
hours; maybe you could tell him you just want to be friends.” Daphne suggested.
“Oh right. I’ll just tell him I want to be friends, and then throw myself at his
best friend. Then maybe, I can go kick some puppies! I can’t do that. He told me
that he really liked me and wanted to get to know me better. Besides, just
because I want Brian in the worst way, doesn’t mean he wants me, too. I’m sure
he barely noticed me. He left almost immediately because he forgot something at
his loft. He probably doesn’t even remember my name. God, why did I even go out
last night? This is a disaster.” Justin exclaimed.
“Listen, you have to pull yourself together. Go home and rest for a while. Then
get dressed in your sexiest outfit and meet them at the bar. See what happens.
It might not be as bad as it seems right now.” She suggested.
“I doubt that I’ll get that lucky. Today should have been the happiest day of my
life, but instead, it’s turning out to be the worst. Thanks for listening, Daph.
I’ll call you tomorrow and let you know what happened.” Justin said as he
heading out the door.
“Good luck!” She called to his retreating figure, worrying about her friend. She
hoped he would be able to work things out, because she hated seeing him so
upset.
Later that night:
Justin was sitting at a table by the bar, listening to Ted, Michael, and Emmett
tell tales of their lives together. He was trying to pay attention, but he kept
looking towards the door hoping that Brian would show up. He had decided that
Daphne was right. There was a chance that once he got to know Brian, he wouldn’t
even like him. He would just have to wait to see what happens. He had a feeling
it was going to be a long night.
Brian was sitting in his jeep outside of Woody’s, trying to get up the courage
to go inside. He wasn’t planning on coming here tonight, but he wanted to see
the boy again so bad, he just couldn’t stay away. He kept visualizing what he
would look like, smacking his lips anticipating the taste of the boy. He knew he
was in deep trouble. Now, he was having second thoughts. This was all so new to
him. He never felt these things before and that thought terrified him. The fact
that he was feeling them for someone Mikey was seeing made it that much worse.
Knowing that he was probably making the wrong decision, he got out of the jeep
and went inside.
“Hey, Brian. I was beginning to think you weren’t going to make it. “Michael
exclaimed, as he saw Brian making his way to the table.
“I fixed the problems for the presentation early so I thought I’d stop by.”
Brian replied, trying to avoid looking at the blond sitting next to his friend.
He knew he made the wrong decision, when his eyes snuck a peek at the boy.
“You remember Justin, right?” Michael asked, oblivious to his friend’s
discomfort.
“Mikey, I’m not that old that I can’t remember someone I met this morning. I’m
going to get a drink.” He growled, walking towards the bar. He couldn’t get away
fast enough. His heart was pounding, his head was reeling and he hadn’t even
taken a shot.
“Jeez, what’s his problem?” Ted asked.
“I’m not sure, but I better go find out. Be right back.” Michael answered.
Brian was on his second shot of beam when he heard Mikey come up beside him.
“What do you want?” he asked.
“Brian, what is wrong with you? You have been in a mood all day. Is everything
alright?” he asked.
“Everything’s peachy, Mikey. It’s pretty slow here tonight, I’m heading to
Babylon.” Brian stated.
“Okay, we’ll go with you.” Michael replied.
“Are you sure that’s a good idea. I mean, this being your first date and all, I
would think you would want to spend the evening getting to know your twink.”
Brian growled.
“I am! We can get to know each other at Babylon. Besides, I want to dance. I’ll
get the guys and meet you out front.” With that he spun around and headed back
to the table.
Brian sighed, realizing there was no way out of this evening of torture. He
downed one more shot, knowing he was going to need it and made his way outside
to wait for his friends. It was definitely going to be a long night.
