Meant To Be
Chapter 12
Brian and Justin sat in shocked silence, both of them unsure of what to say to
Michael. They knew he was going to find out eventually, but this was not the way
it was supposed to happen. Justin looked over at Brian with such sadness in his
eyes that Brian knew he had to do something to try to fix the situation. They
both got dressed, trying to think of a way to ease Michael’s obvious pain at
finding his best friend and his ex boyfriend in bed together.
“Mikey, calm down! This is not what you think it is!” Brian exclaimed, trying to
get Michael to settle down so he could try to explain what was going on between
him and Justin. An explanation that was long over due.
“What do you mean, calm down? How the fuck can I calm down? I come over here to
check on you since I haven’t seen you much lately and this is what I find? Did
you finally run out of tricks so you had to try one of my leftovers? That is
low, even for you!” Michael shouted, unable to understand how this had happened.
Why would Brian pick up a kid like Justin knowing that he was slowly becoming
one of the gang? That would just make it harder to toss him aside when he was
done with him.
“Michael…” Justin started, but was interrupted by Michael’s anger.
“Justin, you know how Brian is. You’ve heard us talking about him. Why would you
let yourself be lured into Brian Kinney’s bed? I thought you knew better then
that. By tomorrow morning, you’ll be out on your ass like some whore!” Michael
spat out as if taking pleasure in hurting the kid.
“That’s enough Mikey! You can’t come in my loft and start insulting people like
you own the place. For your information, Justin isn’t a whore and he isn’t going
to be thrown out in the morning!” Brian yelled, not caring about the
consequences anymore. He was pissed that Michael would talk to Justin like he
was just another trick.
“Come on, Brian. You know, as well as I do, that Justin is just a trick and you
never do the same trick twice!” Michael exclaimed. He couldn’t believe that
Brian would be sticking up for the kid like he was.
“Look Brian, maybe I should just go now. I don’t want to make anything worse
between you two.” Justin said tentatively, ready to head out of the loft.
Startled by Brian’s hand reaching out to stop him from leaving, Justin looked
into the man’s hazel eyes and saw that Brian needed him to stay. Silently
agreeing, he walked over to the kitchen, out of the line of fire.
“Mikey, Justin isn’t just a trick. I’m sorry that I didn’t tell you before. We
certainly didn’t mean for it to happen and we never meant to hurt you. I just
wish you didn’t find out this way. I was just waiting for the right time to tell
you, that’s all.” Brian said, knowing his words sounded empty. He realized
albeit too late that keeping his relationship from his best friend was not the
right thing to do. Now he had to find a way to make Mikey understand.
“Brian, of course, Justin is just a trick! What do you mean you were waiting for
the right time to tell me? What are you talking about?” Michael asked, confused
by what was going on. Nothing Brian was saying was making any sense. If Justin
wasn’t a trick, then what was he?
“Mikey, I love him.” Brian murmured, hoping that Michael would catch on to what
he was saying. He saw the look of complete shock in Michael’s eyes and knew that
his words were sinking in.
“You love him? But…you…don’t do love! I don’t understand!” Michael whined,
walking over to sit down on the couch. He needed to get himself together. He had
to be hearing Brian wrong. There was no way that Brian Kinney just claimed to
love Justin. It couldn’t be possible. He felt Brian sit down next to him and
felt the urge to run away. He didn’t want to hear anymore of what Brian had to
say, but his legs refused to stand up and walk away.
“Look Mikey, Justin and I felt an attraction to each other the moment we met. We
didn’t mean for it to happen and tried to fight it, but we couldn’t stay away.
I’m sorry if we hurt you, but I’m not sorry that I found Justin. He makes me
feel things I have never felt before. Neither of us knows where our relationship
is going, but we have to try to make it work. I hope you can forgive us and
accept us together as a couple. I will always love you and you will always be my
best friend, but I need to try to build a life with Justin now. Please, tell me
that you understand and that you are happy for me.” Brian said, trying to read
the expression on Michael’s face. He could tell that his friend was hurt by his
discovery and didn’t know how to make it better.
“I have to go…I can’t be here right now.” Michael cried as he ran from the loft.
The only thing he could think of was getting as far away from his nightmare come
true as he could. Not only did he feel betrayed by Justin, but his heart was
breaking to learn that Brian finally fell in love, and it wasn’t with him.
Brian sat on the couch looking at the open door that Mikey had just run out of
and couldn’t help feeling like a shit for being the one to cause the man pain.
He was so lost in thought that he didn’t notice Justin until the blond was
sitting next to him. He turned looking into those deep blue eyes and any regret
he felt suddenly faded when he realized that he did the right thing. As much as
he hated hurting Mikey, he couldn’t deny that he loved Justin and needed him in
his life. Everything would work out in the end. It had to, otherwise…well, Brian
didn’t want to think about that.
“Brian, maybe I should just leave. You could probably use some time alone to
think about things and I don’t want to be in your way.” Justin said softly. He
felt horrible for Michael, but he really felt bad for Brian. He knew the older
man must be feeling so guilty for hurting his best friend and he wanted to give
him some space to work things out. If Brian decided that being with him just
wasn’t worth the pain then he wanted to give him the option of bailing out. He
would do anything to make Brian happy, even if it meant walking away.
“You are not in the way, and you are definitely not going anywhere. I am sorry
that Mikey found out like he did, but I can’t feel bad for loving you. We will
get through this, somehow. Now let’s go to bed. I want to feel you lying next to
me.” Brian said as he pulled Justin towards the bedroom. They both put their
problems aside, enjoying being together, and finally fell asleep in each others
arms as the sun rose.
Brian woke up the next morning to find Justin watching him with a mixture of
love and lust in his eyes. He felt his cock stir at the emotion he saw in those
eyes. He didn’t think he would ever get tired of waking up next to Justin.
“Good morning sleepyhead.” Justin whispered, leaning down to kiss the man he
loved. He had been watching Brian sleep for over an hour and knew he had never
seen anything more beautiful. He just wished they could lock themselves up in
the loft forever and shut out the rest of the world.
“Good morning. Have you been up long?” Brian asked, sitting up and taking Justin
in his arms. He wanted the boy in the worst way, but knew they needed to get to
the diner. Saturday mornings were always spent with the guys at the diner. Brian
wanted to put their relationship out in the open immediately so they could move
on from there.
“About an hour or so. Do you know what a turn on it is watching you sleep? You
are so beautiful that I am hard from just looking at you. What do you say we
stay in bed all day and fuck?” Justin chuckled, even though he would like
nothing better then doing that. He knew Brian always met the guys for breakfast
on Saturdays and right now, he didn’t want to think about showing up at the
diner together, especially after what had happened the night before.
“I think that would be wonderful, but we are going to have to settle on a quick
fuck in the shower for now. We have to meet the guys in an hour and we wouldn’t
want to be late.” Brian replied, kissing Justin’s nose before heading off to
start the water.
An hour later Brian and Justin walked into the diner to find Ted and Emmett
sitting in their usual booth, but there was no sign of Michael. Brian was
starting to get worried, but didn’t want Justin to know. The last thing he
wanted to do was cause Justin to feel anymore guilty then he already did.
“Hey guys!” Brian said, as if it was just any old morning. He figured that if
Michael already got the word around, Ted would be the first one to bring it up.
He wasn’t disappointed.
“I see you two decided to come down here and see if you could rub salt in
Michael’s wounds, but you are out of luck. He decided to stay home and sulk all
day.” Ted said, in his most sarcastic voice. He still couldn’t believe that
Brian could be in love with the blond twink. He never thought he would live to
see the day when Brian Kinney would settle for one person, let alone a child
like Justin. He was taking bets on how long it would last.
“Now Teddy, stop being such a queen. I’m happy that Brian and Justin found each
other. It’s about time Michael got over his teenage crush on Brian.” Emmett said
with a smile. He had held Michael most of the night while the man cried on his
shoulder, trying to comfort his friend. He knew that Michael would hurt for
awhile, but saw this as a perfect opportunity for him to grow up.
“Why thank you Emmett. I’m glad to see one of you is happy for me.” Brian
replied, thankful that they had someone on their side. Justin needed to know
that everyone wasn’t against their relationship. He was just glad that Debbie
was off for the day. He didn’t want to have to deal with the mother hen right
now.
“Although, I am still a little pissed at you both. I knew something bad would
happen if you didn’t come clean about what was going on. Let this be a lesson to
you. Secrets always have a way of hurting those you love. Now, enough about
that, come sit down and have some breakfast. I don’t know about you, but I’m
starving.” Emmett said, looking over the menu to decide what to order.
Brian sat down, pulling Justin onto his lap, happy to be out in the open with
Justin by his side when he heard the familiar whine and stiffened by what was to
come.
“Brian, what the hell are you doing here with him? This is supposed to be just
the guys and he isn’t one of us. He will never be welcomed into our group. Why
don’t you just send him on his way so we can have a nice breakfast.” Michael
spat with venom. He couldn’t believe the nerve of the blond trying to insinuate
himself into their lives like he was one of them. It was a good thing he decided
to come out after all. He needed to put a stop to it immediately, before he
never left.
Brian could not believe that Michael had just said the things he did. It took
every ounce of strength Brian had to keep from knocking him out. He motioned for
Justin to get out of the booth and followed him out. Taking his hand, Brian
turned to Michael with pure anger in his eyes.
“Justin is with me and if he’s not part of our group, then neither am I. I told
you last night that I was sorry for hurting you, but I am not sorry for loving
Justin and if you can’t learn to accept him, then we have nothing to say to each
other.” Brian stated before leading Justin out of the diner with all eyes on him
and his declaration of love on everyone’s lips. The funniest thing was that as
long as he had Justin by his side, he didn’t care one bit.
