Coming Out
Chapter 34
Brian spent the weekend at home, studying for an upcoming test and wondering
what had possessed him to go out with Rob on Friday. There was something about
the man that had intrigued him, caused him to accept the invitation knowing that
Justin would be hurt if he found out. By the time Monday rolled around, he still
wasn’t sure what the attraction was, but he had decided to stay as far away from
Rob as he could. Justin had let the incident drop, thrilled that he would be
seeing Brian in another month and everything between them was back to normal.
Brian had just pulled into the parking lot of school when he noticed Rob
standing off to the side waiting for him. Taking a deep breath, he got out of
the car and approached the man.
“What the fuck are you doing here?”
“I was waiting for you. You ran away so fast the other night. I wanted to make
sure everything was okay,” Rob explained casually.
“Everything’s fine. Now I would appreciate it if you would just leave me alone.
If you need to discuss business with me, call the office and set up an
appointment; otherwise, we have nothing to say to each other.” Brian forced a
confidence he didn’t feel. The man was unnerving him.
“I thought we were becoming friends. I was worried about you so I figured I’d
stop by and make sure you were okay. It’s obvious that you are so I’ll just
leave you alone,” Rob replied, turning to walk away.
Brian felt bad about the way he was treating Rob. It wasn’t Rob’s fault that
Justin had gotten mad at him. “Hey Rob,” Brian called to the retreating figure.
“Yeah?”
“I’m sorry for being an ass. It’s just that…I’m a little on edge with Justin
being so far away…”
“And I didn’t make it any easier on you by forcing you to have dinner with me,”
Rob finished for him. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have pushed you so much. I could
just really use a good friend here and I could tell we have a lot in common. Did
I get you in any trouble?”
“No, you didn’t. Justin and I are good. Now I really have to get to class. I’ll
give you a call on Friday and let you know how things are going with the new
mock ups,” Brian replied as he started to walk away.
Rob watched him go, unsure of what he should do next. He knew exactly what it
was that he wanted, but needed to make sure he went about it in the right way.
He couldn’t afford to have anymore trouble surrounding him, but he still had
every intention of making Brian his.
The next few weeks flew by quickly for Brian. He and Rob were managing to build
a friendship, although Brian refused all of the invitations Rob offered for
dinner. He knew that Justin was feeling a little insecure about the friendship
and he didn’t want to hurt him in any way. The night before Brian was going to
California, he was sitting upstairs alone in his room when the phone rang.
Thinking that it was Justin, he answered without looking at the caller ID.
“Relax, 24 more hours and I’m all yours,” he purred.
“Is that a promise?” Rob asked teasingly.
“Rob? Sorry about that. I thought you were Justin,” Brian explained.
“And here I thought you were finally coming to your senses and giving yourself
to me,” Rob joked.
“Not likely, Evens,” Brian chuckled. “What’s up?”
“Not too much. I was just sitting here thinking about the campaign and had a few
ideas I wanted to run by you. Are you free on Friday?”
“Sorry, I’ll be out in sunny California on Friday. It’ll have to wait until next
week. Call Cynthia and have her set something up,” Brian offered.
“You’re going to see Justin? How come you didn’t tell me?”
“I guess I just forgot to mention in. Since school is closed on Monday, I
thought I’d fly out tomorrow night and spend the long weekend working on my
tan.”
“Something tells me you won’t be seeing much of the outdoors while your there,”
Rob replied, trying to push aside his jealousy.
“Not if I have my way,” Brian said honestly. “So is next Friday good or would
you rather meet with Marty? He’s covering for me while I’m gone.”
“Oh, I can definitely wait for my favorite executive to return. Have fun with
the boyfriend.”
“Thanks, I will. Talk to you next week,” Brian said before hanging up the phone.
He sat on his bed thinking about the weekend ahead, trying to push away any
thoughts of Rob in the process.
By the time Brian’s plane landed, he was completely exhausted and very anxious
to see his Sunshine. He managed to pack everything into an overnight bag so that
he didn’t have to check anything, and quickly made his way out of LAX to find
Justin. They agreed to meet out front and as soon as Brian walked through the
door, his eyes found the person he was searching for.
“Justin,” he called.
Justin heard his name being called and turned around to see Brian standing
there, looking better than he remembered. “Brian!” Justin exclaimed as he raced
over and threw himself in the other man’s arms, kissing him deeply oblivious to
those around him.
The kiss lasted until Brian heard the sound of someone clearing their throat and
pulled back slightly without breaking his and Justin’s connection.
“Oh sorry,” Justin blushed. “Brian, this is my roommate Jeff and his friend
Shane. Guys, this is Brian.”
“Nice to meet you,” Brian said as he shook their hands.
“Nice to meet you, too Man. Especially since you’re all Jus here talks about.
You’d think you could part the Red Sea the way he talks,” Jeff teased.
“I can definitely see why, though. You are absolutely gorgeous,” Shane added,
eyeing Brian up and down. “If you ever decide to dump this loser, give me a
call.”
Brian laughed at Shane’s antics. “Not a chance, Shane. Sorry,” Brian replied,
earning a sunshine smile from Justin.
“Okay, let’s get out of here,” Jeff laughed, as he turned and started heading
towards the parking lot with Shane along side of him, giving Brian and Justin
some time alone.
“I thought you were going to borrow Jeff’s car and pick me up yourself?” Brian
asked as he grabbed Justin’s hand and started following the other two to the
car.
“I was going to, until I realized that if I was driving I wouldn’t be able to
touch you for thirty minutes. This way we can sit in the back seat together,”
Justin replied with a devilish grin.
“Well, since you put it that way,” Brian said, pulling Justin to him and kissing
him softly. “Let’s get to the car.”
Once Jeff got out on the highway, he glanced in the rear view mirror wanting to
talk to Brian and get to know him a little bit, but immediately had to alter his
plans. “Hey Shane, can you put on the air conditioner? I have a feeling it’s
going to start getting warm in here.”
Shane looked over at his friend, who gestured towards the back, and followed his
gaze, seeing Brian and Justin in the back seat, mouths together trying to devour
each other. “Right away,” he chuckled, reaching for the controls.
Brian and Justin were so lost in each other that they didn’t notice the car had
stopped or that Jeff and Shane were out of the car until they heard a light
knocking on the back window. Justin pulled away, slightly embarrassed by his
behavior in front of his friends. “I guess we’re here,” he said sheepishly.
Brian laughed at Justin obvious discomfort. “I guess so, Sunshine. Now let’s go.
I can’t wait to see your room.”
Justin climbed out of the car, an apology on the tip of his tongue. “Jeff, I’m
sorry about…”
“Forget it, Taylor. If I was 3000 miles away from Haley they would’ve had to
hose me down in the airport. Are you sure you don’t want me to stay at Shane’s
tonight? His apartment is only twenty minutes away so it’s not like I wouldn’t
be able to make it to my first class,” Jeff offered again.
“No, Jeff; its okay. I appreciate you taking off tomorrow for the weekend, but
I’m not going to run you out of your room tonight when you have an early morning
class. Brian and I can control ourselves for one night,” Justin assured him.
“Yeah right, Justin. You couldn’t even control yourselves in the car. I can’t
wait to hear how well you control yourselves tonight,” Shane teased. “In fact,
why don’t I spend the night too? This way I can get a front row seat to your
reunion.”
“Go rent a porno, you freak,” Justin laughed, shoving Shane teasingly. “Besides,
Brian and I know how to behave ourselves if we have to. We lived together with
my parents, remember?”
“Yeah, I’m just now starting to thaw out from all those cold showers.” Brian
joined in their easy banter, happy that Justin found some good friends to help
him through their separation.
Once they all reached the common room, Jeff stopped them, turning towards Brian
and Justin. “You guys go on up and spend a little time alone. Shane and I will
hang out here and watch TV for awhile; give you some time to get reacquainted.”
“Thanks Jeff, we appreciate that,” Justin said quickly, grabbing Brian’s hand
and leading him towards the room, hearing his friends’ laughter at they went.
Once Justin unlocked the door and walked inside, he heard Brian toss his bag
seconds before he felt himself being shoved up against a wall.
“I’ve missed touching you so much,” Brian whispered huskily before attacking
Justin’s mouth in a hungry kiss.
It seemed like only minutes passed before they were both naked and Brian was
entering Justin, finally feeling complete for the first time in six weeks. He
wanted to take things slow, but being buried deep inside Justin was more than he
could bear and try as he might, he wasn’t going to be able to hold back.
“Justin, God you feel so good. I don’t know how long I can hold off,” he moaned,
reaching out to grab Justin’s cock.
“Don’t hold back,” Justin gasped. “I feel it, too.”
That was all it took for Brian to pick up the pace, throwing them both over the
edge in a matter of minutes. As they lay in each others arms, trying to get
their breathing back to normal, Brian couldn’t help but start to laugh.
“Hopefully the next time will last a little bit longer.”
“Well if not, we’ll just spend the weekend working on our technique. Practice
makes perfect, you know,” Justin chuckled.
“Every time with you is perfect,” Brian replied softly. “God, I’ve missed you so
much.”
“I know; I’ve missed you too. More than I even thought possible. Is it horrible
that I’m already dreading you leaving when you just got here?”
“Don’t think about that now. We’ve got three full days to be together. Don’t let
anything over shadow that, alright?”
“You’re right. And besides, I’ll be flying home next month for Thanksgiving so
we’ll have another four days then,” Justin pointed out.
“See…this long distance relationship thing isn’t so bad after all,” Brian
replied, trying not to let his real feelings show.
“No, not bad at all,” Justin agreed, lying with his head on Brian’s chest,
wishing he actually believed his words.
The next morning, Jeff and Justin left early to head to class, leaving Brian
alone to keep himself occupied until Justin returned. Justin tried to skip the
few classes he had, but Brian insisted that he go, promising to miss the blond
during his absence. Around ten, while Brian was lost in one of his text books
that he had brought to read on the plane, he heard a knock at the door.
“Come in,” he called, putting his book aside.
Shane walked through the door a moment later with a big smile on his face. “Hey,
I knew you were on your own this morning so I thought I’d come and invite you to
brunch.”
“Sounds good to me; I’m starving,” Brian replied, jumping up off the bed.
The two of them made their way out of the dorms and walked the few blocks to a
local café. They quickly ordered something to eat and then sat back to get to
know each other.
“So Shane, Justin told me that you aren’t a student. What do you do?”
“As little as possible,” Shane laughed. “Actually, I’m one of those rich kids
you always read about. I’m living off a trust fund and enjoying every minute of
it.”
“Really?” Brian asked incredulously.
“Well, yes and no. I have a position waiting for me in the family business, but
my parents agreed to let me take a few years off to find myself before making me
become a responsible adult. What about you? Justin said that you’re in
advertising?”
“Yeah, I was given a great opportunity with one of the top firms on the east
coast. I’ve been working there part time for over a year now and once I get my
degree I’ll be a full time executive. My boss has taught me a lot so far and I
can’t wait to finish school and prove how brilliant I am,” Brian teased.
They spent the rest of the meal talking about their lives, their friends, and
what they hoped for the future, enjoying each other’s company. By the time they
made it back to the dorm it was as if they were old friends. Shane followed
Brian into the room, wanting to say what was on his mind before he left.
“Look Brian, I had a really good time talking with you this morning and I’d like
for us to become friends, so I’m hoping that what I have to say won’t ruin
that.”
Brian looked at Shane suspiciously before replying. “Well, why don’t you say
what’s on your mind and we’ll find out?”
“I really like Justin. Hell, if he was single I’d make a play for him myself;
but he’s not. He loves you very much. I just don’t want to see him get hurt.”
“And you think I’m going to hurt him?”
“I don’t know, you tell me,” Shane replied.
“Not that it’s any of your business, but I love Justin as much as he loves me;
maybe even more. I don’t know how I would’ve survived without him this past
year. We’ve been through a lot and still managed to come out on top,” Brian
explained patiently, trying to remember that Shane was just being a concerned
friend.
“Yes you have, but you weren’t 3000 miles apart while you were doing it. You
have the right to have a life during the next four years; I’m not denying that.
Just be careful how you live that life, okay?”
“I assume you’re talking about Rob. I told Justin that he was just a friend,
nothing more.”
“Anyone who can cause problems in your relationship is more than a friend. I
have a feeling that this Rob person can fit that bill.”
“You don’t even know him,” Brian pointed out.
“On the contrary,” Shane said, pulling out a folded up piece of paper from his
pocket and handing it to Brian.
Brian read over the information in front of him before looking back at Shane in
horror. “You had him investigated?”
“My family’s business happens to have PI’s on the payroll. This is just a list
of the basics. What you don’t see there is that Robert Evans is a self consumed
asshole. He was thrown out of two different boarding schools after having come
on to his teachers in hopes of getting a better grade. He also has a few marks
on his college records for misconduct with the faculty. He would have been
tossed out, but Daddy paid for the incidents to be over looked. On a more
personal note, he also created a scandal in his former hometown by having an
affair with a prominent city official, only to blackmail him afterwards with
threats of telling the guy’s wife he was gay unless he gave him a monthly
allowance. Money used to compensate for the money Mr. Evans stopped giving him
due to the incident at the school. Word eventually got out around the town and
not only did this poor guy have to resign, but his wife left him and he was
forced to relocate. Robert Evans will stop at nothing to get exactly what he
wants and right now what he wants is you. Originally I was only looking out for
Justin, but now that I’ve met you and know what a decent guy you are, I’m
worried about you, too. I don’t want to see either of you hurt by this piece of
trash.”
“I…don’t know…what to say,” Brian stammered, feeling betrayed by his new friend.
“I never had any intentions of being anything more than friends with Rob.”
“I’m sure you didn’t, but he has other ideas. In fact, your name has already
been linked to him in his social circle. Rumor has it that you’re his new love
interest and he’s hoping to take things to the next level as soon as possible.”
“That’s bullshit! We’ve only ever been out together once and that was a business
dinner. We went to a local club afterwards, but nothing happened between us.
Justin knows all about it.”
“I have to admit that when all the information started rolling in, I was a
little weary about what I was hearing, but now that we’ve met I can see how much
Justin means to you. That’s why I’m giving you this warning. Loneliness can be a
terrible thing, and I can only imagine how hard it is for you to have Justin so
far away. Just watch yourself around Evans. He has the power to destroy the life
you have with Justin. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have an appointment to get a
facial in twenty minutes.” Shane turned to leave.
“Shane thanks for telling me all of this. I really do love Justin and would do
anything to keep him from getting hurt,” Brian assured him.
“See that you do.”
Before Shane made it out of the room, Brian called out to him. "So I didn't
really have to tell you about my life, did I? You already know it all."
Shane just smiled wickedly and walked out, closing the door behind him.
Brian watched Shane walk out of the room and couldn’t help but smile at the
man’s abilities. At least he knew that Justin had someone watching out for him,
protecting him while Brian was so far away; even if he did take things to
extremes. Glancing at the clock, he saw that he had about fifteen minutes left
before Justin returned and had a phone call to make before the blond appeared.
He reached for his cell phone and dialed the number, knowing he was doing the
right thing.
“Hey Marty, it’s Brian. We’ve got a problem…”
