Justin was sitting in a booth at the Liberty Diner with Michael, Brian, Ben, Ted and Emmett when his younger sister walked over to them. “Hey, Justin. Can I talk to you?” she asked quietly. From her red-rimmed eyes, they could all tell that she had been crying.

Justin nodded. “Sure.” He led her to an empty table and they both sat down. After a few minutes of silence, Justin figured he’d better start the conversation. “What is it, Mol? What’s the matter?”

Molly sighed, her lower lip trembling. “It’s Devon.”

“What about him?” asked Justin. He didn’t have a good feeling about where the conversation was headed.

“He… he cheated on me!” With that said, Justin engulfed her in a hug and let her cry. He could see Debbie and the other guys looking at them with concern. Justin was angry. He didn’t like to see his baby sister hurt by anyone. ‘I’m going to break every bone in that bastard’s body,’ he silently vowed.

After a few minutes, Molly leaned back and wiped her eyes. “I’m sorry, Justin. I got your shirt all wet.”

“No problem. Do you want to talk?”

Molly sighed. “I went to Devon’s house earlier today. Since it’s Saturday we were going to study for Monday’s history test, then go to see a movie. Well, I got there half an hour earlier than we had planned. His parents weren’t home, but their housekeeper Marla let me in. I went up the stairs to his room and could hear some music playing through the closed door. I knocked but he never answered. I figured he couldn’t hear me over the music, so I went on in.” Molly paused to take a deep breath, to try and control her emotions. Justin could see that she was holding back the tears that were in her eyes.

“When I walked in… he was fucking that slut from school! Mallory Gillespie. I couldn’t believe it and stood there for a minute in shock. He noticed me and actually got out of the bed, naked, with the condom still on!”

Justin vowed that he’d better never see Devon, again, or that boy would end up seriously hurt.

Molly had gone silent, so he waited for her to continue. “He told me that… that… it was my own fault. That I wasn’t a good girlfriend since I haven’t had sex with him. I’m a virgin, Justin. It never felt like the right time.” Molly sighed. “Maybe I should have just slept with him. We’d still be together.”

Justin shook his head and made sure that he was looking Molly straight in the eyes when he spoke. “You are not the one at fault. He is. Don’t have sex with anyone until you’re completely ready. I’m proud that you stuck by what you wanted. That you didn’t give into pressure. You’ll find the right guy, Molly. A guy that’s worthy of you. And you’ll know when the time is right to have sex.”

“But I thought that Devon loved me. How could he do this to me? It hurts so much.”

“I know. And, believe me, I understand.” Justin said as he thought about his first few rocky years with Brian. “But it’ll get better. And when you find the man that you love and who loves you, you won’t even remember that pipsqueak. You’ll be saying… Devon? Devon who?”

Molly gave a slight smile. “Thanks. I love you, Jester.”

Justin gave her a kiss on the forehead. “I love you, too, Mollusk,” he whispered. After she left, he walked back over to the booth where the others were sitting.

“What’s going on?” asked Brian.

Justin sighed. “Molly caught Devon having sex with another girl in his room earlier today. She’s heartbroken.”

“The poop baby,” cooed Emmett.

Brian thought of Molly as family. And nobody hurt his family. “I’m going to break every bone in that bastard’s body,” Brian snarled. Justin gave a small chuckle at having his earlier thoughts echoed back to him.

“I’m sure she’ll be fine,” said Ben.

Justin nodded. “Yeah.  It’s just hard right now. But she’ll find someone else. Someone better.”

ONE WEEK LATER

School was over for the day and Molly had just walked outside into the gray, overcast, day.

She sighed as she saw Devon waiting for her. He was still as handsome as ever, but she realized that she felt nothing towards him except anger and disgust. She had managed to ignore him for a week and she wasn’t happy at seeing him now.

“Mol, I was waiting for you.”

“What do you want?”

“You. I want you back. Look, I’m sorry about last week. It’ll never happen, again.”

“You’re damn right it won’t. There is no us any longer. You saw to that when you jumped into bed with Mallory.”

“Come on. Don’t be like that.” Devon reached out a hand and laid it on Molly’s shoulder, but she shrugged it off.

“Don’t,” she warned.

“Come on. I know you still love me. I know that you still want me.”

Molly raised an eyebrow and shook her head. “That’s where you’re wrong. I refuse to be with anyone that doesn’t respect me enough to only want to be with me.” And before Molly could stop herself, she kneed Devon in the groin causing him to grunt and grab himself. Before she walked away, she spoke. “By the way, don’t call me Mol. The name’s Molly to you.”

With that, she started walking away just as the sky opened and the rain began to pour. She heard a car horn and looked up, surprised to see Brian’s car. She ran up to the passenger side and quickly climbed inside. “What are you doing here?” she asked.

Brian shrugged. “I was close by and saw that it was about to rain. Thought I’d give you a ride. Looks like I arrived just in time.”

“Yeah, thanks.”

“I also saw what you did to that jerk. Good goin’, doll.”

Molly blushed at his praise as Brian started to pull away from the school. They saw Devon running to his car. With an evil smirk, Brian gunned the engine and sped past Devon, spraying water all over him. Molly and Brian looked at each other and cracked up laughing.

THREE MONTHS LATER

Molly walked into the diner, holding hands with a tall, black-haired, teen. She walked over to the table that held her brother and the rest of the gang.

“Hey, guys,” she greeted with a smile.

“Hey, sis. Who’s this?” wondered Justin.

“This is Brent Wills. Brent, this is my brother Justin and his partner Brian. Michael and his partner Ben. Ted and Emmett.”

“Nice to meet ya’all,” said Brent in a thick southern drawl.

“Brent’s a transfer from Mississippi. We met in biology class. Well, we’re on our way to see a movie. I just wanted to introduce everyone.” Molly and Brent started toward the door. Molly turned back toward the table and smiled at Justin. “You were right” She knew that Justin would know what she meant. Her heart had mended. She had met another guy. A guy that seemed to like her, a lot.

As she walked to Brent’s truck, she thought, ‘Devon who?’

VERSE 1

Hey, little sister

Did that boy make you cry, did he steal your heart away with a look in his eye

Are you feeling like your world is over now

Hey, little sister

Everything will be okay, what you feel is gonna change

All your tears will dry

CHORUS

Tonight you’ve lost the only one you want

Seems all you’ve got left is yesterday

But time won’t stop (uh-uh)

And when all your crying stops, tomorrow comes

VERSE 2

Hey, little sister you’ve gotta trust me (Just a part of love)

Soon you’ll open your eyes and the sun is gonna shine a light you’ve never seen

There’s so much more to love than what you’re feeling now

Someday you’ll find someone who’ll never let you down

CHORUS

Tonight you’ve lost the only one you want

Seems like all you’ve got, all you’ve got left is yesterday (all you’ve got is yesterday)

But time won’t stop (it don’t stop)

And when all your crying stops, tomorrow comes (tomorrow comes)

BRIDGE

It’s alright, little sister

And you’ve gotta wake up and face up that breaking up is just a part of loving

So his kiss hit you hard, it broke your heart, but it don’t mean nothing

And you’ve gotta wake up and face up that breaking up is just a part of loving

The hurt you feel, yes it’s real, but it’s gonna heal as a new day’s coming

CHORUS

Tonight you’ve lost the only one you want (one you want)

Seems all you’ve got, all you’ve got left is yesterday (yesterday) but time won’t stop (time won’t stop, it won’t stop) (It won’t stop)

And when you crying stops, tomorrow comes (and when all your crying stops)

Come on little sister

Tonight you’ve lost, lost, the only one you want (one you want)

Seems all you’ve got, all you’ve got left is yesterday

But time won’t stop

And when all your crying stops, tomorrow comes
