Is This the End?
Chapter Six
"This is going to be so much fun!" Justin exclaimed as he rubbed his hands
together in glee.
Greg chuckled. "Somebody sure is excited.
Justin shrugged. "I can't help it. I'm sad, of course, for leaving behind Mom,
Molly and Daphne. But I know this is the right decision. This will be a new
start to a new Justin."
"This will be a new start for all of us," Nick said softly as he he kept one
hand on the steering wheel and grabbed Greg's left hand with his right hand.
PITTSBURGH
Brian walked into the diner. It had been two days since he had last seen Justin
around. Even though he would never admit it, he loved the blond.
"Hi, Deb," he greeted the red-headed waitress.
"Brian, have you seen Sunshine lately?"
"No."
Debbie sighed and smacked her chewing gum. "Me neither. It's like he just upped
and disappeared."
"Don't be so dramatic. It's only been a couple of days. What does Mother Taylor
say?"
"Nothing. Haven't talked to her."
After a quiet second, Debbie spoke. "There's Daphne. I'll ask her." Without
waiting for a reply, Debbie walked to the door and went outside.
Brian, trying to appear casual, watched Debbie and Daphne talk. He watched as
Debbie's face took on a devastated quality. He watched as Daphne gave a small
smile and walked away. 'What the hell?' he wondered.
OUTSIDE WITH DEBBIE AND DAPHNE
"Daphne!" Debbie called.
Daphne stopped and turned around with a quizzical look on her face. When she saw
Debbie she smiled. "Hey, Debbie. What's up?"
"Do you know where Justin is? Nobody's seen him in a couple of days. I'm
worried."
Daphne chewed on her bottom lip, as if debating with herself. Seeming to come to
a decision, Daphne nodded. "Yeah. Yeah, I do."
"Well?"
Daphne sighed. "He's in Las Vegas."
"Las Vegas?!" Debbie practically screeched.
"Yeah. He decided he needed a fresh start. Away from everything." Daphne gave
Debbie a small smile, said goodbye, and strode away.
Debbie walked back into the diner, stunned.
After a moment, Brian broke the silence. "Did you get your answers?"
Debbie nodded. "He's gone."
"Gone? What do you mean, gone?" demanded Brian.
"Gone. To Las Vegas. He went to Las Vegas with his cousin Greg."
Brian couldn't believe it.
