Silent Night

Brian was awakened by a web of arms, and legs wrapped around him. Justin was in his usual spot snuggled against his lover's side with one arm wrapped around Brian's chest, and one leg wrapped around his
thigh. Gus was on the other side of the bed stretched out flat on his back with one arm across Brian's face, and a leg thrown across dada's belly. Brian gently moved Gus's arm aside. He smiled when he noticed the half eaten gingerbread man still in his son's hand, and the tell-tale signs of hot chocolate that stained his pink cheeks. The plan had originally been for Gus to stay at the loft while his mommies did some last minute Christmas eve shopping. However the toddler's stay had to be extended when an unexpected snowstorm paralyzed the Pittsburgh area, leaving Brian, and his two boys bound together for the night.

Brian eased out of bed, and strolled over to the window amidst the glow of the Christmas tree lights. From his top floor apartment he could see the white powdered sidewalks below. The earlier evening crowded streets were now calm, and the stars in the moonlit sky now shined clear, and bright. Just as quickly as the storm had came, an after the storm peace had settled upon the blanketed city. It was a pleasant, venerated peace that could only be described as heavenly.

The silence of the night was momentarily interrupted by a rustling in the bedroom. Brian turned toward the sound to find that it was Gus who had found his way to the other side of the bed, and claimed his father's spot in Justin's arms. The older man's heart quaked at the beautiful sight of his lover, and child, as the two laid sleeping together so tender, and so mild in a peaceful slumber that could only be described as heavenly.

"Silent night, holy night. All is calm, all is bright......" A harmony of voices began to carol from the streets below. Even the snow couldn't stifle this holiest of the night, with the city so calm, and the stars so bright. "Glories stream from heaven afar. Heavenly hosts sing alleluia......."

"Daddy." Gus lifted his head, and softly called to his father.

Brian put his finger to his lips. "Shhhh. Christ the savior is born." He told his son. "Christ the savior is born."
